Tennis & Bowling:

I decided to combine tennis and bowling because they are smaller units.

1st & 2nd Grades:

The 1 st and 2 nd grade students are primarily asked to explore the tennis racket and ball.   The students are asked to perform various activities that consist with the standard of striking with a short handled implement.   The students are also introduced to mini tennis nets to gain an understanding of controlling and directing the ball over the net.

The 1 st and 2 nd grade students are also introduced to bowling skills throughout the year primarily during station activities.   Students are asked to aim and roll a bowl to knock over a set of pins, which also complies with the standard of rolling.

3rd & 4th Grades:

The 3 rd and 4 th grade students are asked to perform at a higher level when it comes to tennis and bowling.   They are asked to work with partners in game or competition type atmospheres and work on social skills as well as sport skills.   Working on social skills, feeling, and expression is also related with the state standards in Physical Education. <back>
